ATP celebrates overturn of N.Y. fracking ban
‘If American Tradition Partnership can win in New York state, American Tradition Partnership can, and will, win anywhere.’
WASHINGTON – American Tradition Partnership Executive Director Donald Ferguson congratulated New York state residents on their governor’s decision to lift a ban on clean water extraction, or “fracking,” Monday.
“This is a huge victory for American Tradition Partnership, which has been fighting to preserve safe, clean water extraction and the thousands of jobs it creates,” said Ferguson.
“I want to thank and congratulate American Tradition Partnership’s large and growing grassroots support. ATP supporters in states across the country have been calling, writing and e-mailing their legislators in support of clean water extraction,” said Ferguson. “Thanks to their support New York state is now on the side of good science and good jobs.”
“The fact thousands upon thousands of wells have been ‘fracked’ for 60 years, with no proven cases of groundwater contamination. Clean water extraction is safe, clean, creates thousands of jobs and provides families with clean, affordable energy.”
“Sadly, the facts and clear science have not stopped radical environmentalists from engaging in a corporate-funded smear campaign. Wind and solar corporations are spending big bucks to spread lies intended to terrorize Americans out of access to jobs and safe, clean energy,” said Ferguson.
“Monday’s actions were a huge victory for American Tradition Partnership’s clean water extraction campaign and a massive defeat for environmentalists,” said Ferguson. “If American Tradition Partnership can win in New York state, American Tradition Partnership can, and will, win anywhere.”

Ferguson slams Obama’s call for job-killing taxes on energy
‘When it comes to protecting our jobs and freedoms there is no compromise.’
‘When it comes to protecting our jobs and freedoms there is no compromise.’
WASHINGTON — The nation’s largest grassroots advocate of rational energy and environmental policy criticized President Barack Obama’s call for crippling new tax hikes on energy consumers and employers.
In a White House press conference Monday, Obama called for future tax hikes on energy employers, which get their money from consumers, translating into higher prices for virtually all goods and services.
“Barack Obama has targeted America’s energy for elimination through a series of needless tax hikes,” said American Tradition Partnership Executive Director Donald Ferguson. “Obama’s agenda of carbon dioxide taxes, taxes on hydrocarbon developers and taxes on gasoline have killed the economic recovery. His agenda threatens our jobs and threatens our freedoms. Our large and growing grassroots support have vocally stated their opposition to energy or resource taxes. They have no place in debt limit negotiations.”
“American Tradition Partnership will hold accountable any legislator who supports taxes on energy, natural resources or energy or resource developers. When it comes to protecting our jobs and freedoms there is no compromise.”

ATP: D.C.-focused Schweitzer hurting oil recovery effort for his own political benefit
ATP: D.C.-focused Schweitzer hurting oil recovery effort for his own political benefit
‘Montana needs a workhorse. D.C. is getting a show poodle.’
BOZEMAN, MONT. – American Tradition Partnership Executive Director Donald Ferguson released the following statement Monday morning:
It is no surprise Governor Schweitzer’s decision to suddenly stop working with EPA officials and ExxonMobil and stage a grandstanding attack on a major Billings-area employer came just days after a new poll showed him within striking distance of grabbing a new job in the United States Senate. The poll shows Schweitzer could defeat Sen. Max Baucus in a Democrat primary for his U.S. Senate seat by currying favor with multi-million dollar radical environmentalist groups hostile to Montana’s energy economy.
Governor Schweitzer’s performance Friday, in which he ignored the EPA’s scientific findings, attacked a local employer and deliberately misled Montanans, was intended to curry favor with left-wing D.C. campaign bankrollers who have openly declared their intention to shut down Montana’s energy economy. His misleading, self-centered performance is exactly what one would expect from a politician who is reading poll numbers and focused on grabbing a lifetime job in D.C.
The fact is EPA officials confirm there is no serious pollution and the release was between 750 and 1000 barrels. The fact is EPA confirms no detected volatile organic compounds or hydrogen sulfide in the air along the river. The fact is EPA confirms no benzene in the air. The fact is EPA confirms no hydrocarbons above drinking water levels. The fact is EPA confirms drinking water is safe and the river water is safe for irrigation.
EPA officials tell me “the human health issue is resolved.” The area is perfectly safe and is recovering rapidly.
The good folks here in Montana have handled this situation with class and dignity. They are focused on restoring the environment and the local economy.
But when Montanans needed someone focused on their concerns Governor Schweitzer chose to do what he does best – focus on Governor Schweitzer. When Montanans needed someone to lead Governor Schweitzer chose to grandstand.
Montana needs a workhorse. D.C. is getting a show poodle.
The fact is local businesses near Laurel are hurting. Some residents do not want to go near the site, despite the fact EPA confirms the area is perfectly safe, because Governor Schweitzer deliberately sought to scare them for his own political benefit. Schweitzer chose to mislead and hurt local residents because it could translate into more D.C. environmentalist campaign dollars for a Senate run.
I have visited the site, been to local restaurants and businesses and have encouraged recovery workers and local residents to do the same. I have also encouraged the EPA and ExxonMobil to employ local residents in the recovery effort whenever possible.
American Tradition Partnership is focused on helping Laurel and Billings recover. It is unfortunate Governor Schweitzer could not take time out of positioning himself for a job in D.C. to join us in a constructive, positive effort to restore the local environment and protect local jobs.
His decision to curry favor with Washington D.C.’s multi-million dollar environmentalist lobby by pulling out of the recovery effort center, attacking a major Billings-area employer and deliberately choosing to frighten residents by misleading them about the condition of the area, is hurting Montanans for his own political benefit.
