Ferguson slams Obama’s call for job-killing taxes on energy
‘When it comes to protecting our jobs and freedoms there is no compromise.’

WASHINGTON — The nation’s largest grassroots advocate of rational energy and environmental policy criticized President Barack Obama’s call for crippling new tax hikes on energy consumers and employers.

In a White House press conference Monday, Obama called for future tax hikes on energy employers, which get their money from consumers, translating into higher prices for virtually all goods and services.

“Barack Obama has targeted America’s energy for elimination through a series of needless tax hikes,” said American Tradition Partnership Executive Director Donald Ferguson.  “Obama’s agenda of carbon dioxide taxes, taxes on hydrocarbon developers and taxes on gasoline have killed the economic recovery. His agenda threatens our jobs and threatens our freedoms.  Our large and growing grassroots support have vocally stated their opposition to energy or resource taxes.  They have no place in debt limit negotiations.”

“American Tradition Partnership will hold accountable any legislator who supports taxes on energy, natural resources or energy or resource developers.  When it comes to protecting our jobs and freedoms there is no compromise.”

ATP does not advocate the election or defeat of candidates.  Supported by grassroots members, ATP is a fast-growing non-profit citizens’ group dedicated to promoting private property rights and responsible development and management of land, water, and natural resources.
